Data drives decisions: Segmenting and targeting benefits communication

You are sitting on a mountain of data about what your employees need, want and use. Yet, few companies harness that data to improve the effectiveness of their communications to these needs.

This presentation will explain how to use that data in combination with focus groups and employee interviews to better understand employees' needs and better position your communication. We will cover the landscape of targeted messaging, from simple versioning techniques to sophisticated personalization. No matter the size of your company or budget, you'll leave with methods to better connect with your employees on benefits such as:

  • Employee health care benefits

  • Wellness programs

  • Consumer-driven health care plans

  • Total rewards/total compensation

  • 401(k) Savings plans

  • Retirement education

  • Benefits administration implementation and change management

Presenter: Jennifer Benz is CEO and Founder of Benz Communications. She has been on the leading edge of employee benefits communication for 14 years-starting with early adopter consumer driven health plans and now with innovative wellness and social media strategies.

Jen recently testified before the Department of Labor's ERISA Advisory Council regarding retirement education, and was named one of Workforce Magazine's "Game Changers." A well-known expert, Jen has published articles and is widely quoted in many trade publications, including Employee Benefit News, Human Resources Executive, The Conference Board Review and Workforce. She speaks frequently on topics such as health care reform, social media and improving results through effective communication.

Prior to starting Benz Communications, Jen spent seven years at Hewitt Associates, where she helped shape the firm's approach to health care communication and had tremendous success with health care, recruiting and other strategic HR projects.
