Developing an Emotionally Fit Workforce

Can you identify the signs of an employee or person in the workplace who is suffering from significant stress or other types of emotional issues? If not, there may be multiple contributing factors to consider, including personal conflicts, strained relationships, substance dependence or simply fatigue coping with a host of life issues and demands. This session will discuss how to recognize the subtle signs and symptoms of a "person at risk", provide insight into warning factors, what to do to help the person and what not to do. The session will also discuss the essential components of developing an Emotional Fitness at Work strategy.

Rod Hart, RN, COHN, FAAOHN
Rod Hart is a Senior Practice Leader within Aon's National Health Transformation Team. Based in Portland, Oregon, Rod combines his extensive clinical and operational background to design and develop workforce risk management interventions and population-specific well-being strategies for clients nationwide. Using both prevalence and burden of risk analytics, he deploys evidence-based solutions customized to a clients unique requirements that improve both health and productivity, while managing current and future risk
Prior to joining Aon Hewitt, Rod served as Director of Healthcare Services at Moda Health Inc. focusing on population health, long term chronic disease management programming and wellness consulting. Previously at Regence BlueCross BlueShield he was the HR Manager of Safety & Wellness, responsible for enterprise-wide employee health services and on-site fitness. As a clinician Rod has developed numerous condition-specific lifestyle coaching, disease management and gap-in-care health engagement programs. A current area of focus is behavioral and social determinants of health and their impact on comprehensive coordinated care outcomes for long term chronic conditions.
Dr. Robert 'Neal' Mills MD, MBA | Medical Director, Aon Hewitt
Dr. 'Neal' has been a Family Medicine physician since 2003. He is the founder and executive sponsor of Healthy Foundations, a chronic intensive ambulatory care 'hot spotters' program that serves the City of Portland, Oregon. He is also a fellow of the Academy of Healthcare Management.
Prior to Aon Hewitt, Dr. 'Neal' served Moda health plan, located in the Pacific Northwest. His responsibilities included client relations, utilization management, pharmacy, quality improvement,population health, provider relations, and product development. Neal is the creator of the Specialty Drug Integration through Recovery, Reimbursement, and Reconfiguration Team, which improved health plan data collection and analytics. As a result, new value streams for infusion sites of service, post service claims edits, and new utilization programs emerged which improved healthcare efficiencies. Neal led the teams that built new genetic and therapeutic drug testing programs.
